Writing blogs and keeping journals are really not my thing, surprising for a graduate in journalism, however when asked to do one for Rogue-star I jumped at the chance. Who am I? I bet your asking, really the question is who are we? RuebenMia is the name of our clothing company; and by our, I mean Rueben Wright and Mia Elliott. We want our clothing to be a part of your world!

Fashion is all about the freedom to express yourself; it’s about communicating who you are to the world without having to say a word, so why are we allowing so many celebrities to dictate trends and styles to us? Most magazines are infiltrated with artists who duplicate each other’s style. Are we really living in a world where women and men who we have never met can organise what we choose to wear and what we accept as fashionable.

The initial reason that we began RuebenMia is because we are both unique and we love it! The concept of our brand is tailor made one off treasure items. Key pieces that you can treasure, feel and look so good in that you want to hug yourself. (just joking)
All of our best selling jackets are hand made by either myself or Mia. What fun is it walking around looking just like everyone else?

We are quite obsessive about details; such as materials, colours & textures and buttons & linings. These are the things that make our brand unique. Hopefully our choice in fabrics, our personalities and the love that goes into our work shines through to the finished garment. Our clothes are fuelled with our energy and are designed to make you feel special.

The brand developed almost by chance we embarked on our first business adventure trading at Birmingham Clothes Show Live 2010. Initially we just wanted to inquire about taking part however on a whim with just over a month to the exhibition we decided to trade. Sometimes if you feel the timing is right and the opportunity is there then you simply have to seize the moment.

The show was a real eye opener as to what maintaining a brand involves. Being exposed to so much raw talent was an amazing experience as we saw first hand just how much talent and creativity there is in newly established designers. Receiving approval and advice from others designers helped to point us out in the direction.

Since Clothes Show we have been involved in a few fashion shows the last of which was Culture Shock back in February.
The ideal RuebenMia lady is a woman who is unique and has a different way of looking at fashion. Fashion is so diverse and open to interpretation. There are many languages of fashion thus she must be bilingual.
